Lakestar invested in Revolut in 2016.
Lakestar is a venture capital firm that invests in outstanding digital and technology entrepreneurs worldwide. Founded by Klaus Hommels, one of Europe’s leading venture capitalists, Lakestar has invested in many of the companies that define today’s digital economy, including Facebook, Spotify and Skype, and more recently Opendoor, Omio, Glovo and Revolut.
Revolut was founded in 2015 and started off as an app which allows you to exchange currencies at interbank rates, send them through social networks, and spend with a multi-currency card. Since then, Revolut has $1.7B in funding and expanded their offerings to crypto currencies and stocks, positioning itself as the app for "all things money".
Lakestar invested in Revolut because of its revolutionary approach to becoming a fully digital banking platform.
