Accel is a leading venture capital fund, founded in 1983 and based between the Bay area, London and Bangalore. Accel has successfully backed leading companies including Facebook, Hopin, Spotify and UiPath.
Sorare is a fantasy footbal game built on the Ethereum blockchain. Sorare issues football player cards as NFTs which users can buy and sell. The game has had a lot of traction with nearly 1M registered users and raised a $680M in September 2021 to accelerate its growth.
Accel were impressed by the founders of Sorare and the incredible community they'd built which was leading to players joining mainly through word of mouth.
