A Rent Repayment Order can issued by the Residential Property Tribunal to a landlord who has been convicted of operating a HMO without a licence. A Rent Repayment order allows a tenant or local council to claim the repayment from the landlord of up to 12 months of rent, Housing Benefit or Universal Credit.
